Helping Sderot's residents

The mobile unit project

NATAL has initiated a number of projects to help Sderot’s residents deal with the psychological effects of the constant Qassam fire, but perhaps one project stands above the rest in terms of its concrete outcomes and the feedback we have received from those who are the beneficiaries of this service.

Our Mobile Unit was established at the end of 2006 as a means to provide immediate and long term emotional support to individuals and families in the comfort of their homes. The Unit is composed of 8 members of NATAL's Community Outreach Unit who visit the citizen's homes and give them individual, couples or family treatment in Hebrew, Russian and Amharic. The families are identified by NATAL’s representative in the municipal welfare department. The Representative is responsible for identifying cases, performing the intake and matching patients with the Mobile's professionals. According to February 2009 the Unit treated more then 1500 individuals, a significant percent of them being children (under 18).
