A call in the aftermath of the first bulldozer charge attack in Jerusalem

Case Study number 2

The telephone rings. I hear a hesitant voice on the other end of the line – quiet and delicate as if the caller is embarrassed and feels like a nuisance. He asks a few questions, which I try to answer as clearly as possible. I tell him about NATAL. At the end of the conversation, after we discuss the difficulties that Danny (alias) has mentioned and the way in which they influence his life, I asked him if he is interested in remaining in touch.

Case Study number 1

Gila (a pseudonym), 45, is the mother of two reserve soldiers who served in Lebanon during the Second War in Lebanon, a soldier doing his compulsory service in the Air Force and a 10-year-old boy. Gila called shortly before the end of the fighting and told us that the younger of her two sons on reserve duty was part of an incident in which nine soldiers from the same unit were killed and 25 were injured. Only seven soldiers, including her son, survived the incident without injury. Gila’s son lost his best friend.
