Every year NATAL is proud to take on a few volunteers who decide to spend their time in Israel learning about the organization and its mission. Read about Tamar’s experience below.

“This summer I had the privilege to come to Israel on an internship program and vied specifically for the chance to work at NATAL. The experience exceeded all expectation, as I gained work experience and created friendships in the heart of Tel Aviv.

Throughout my internship I was encouraged to take initiative and assist NATAL in the way of its employees – through trailblazing ideas and novel proposals. With the help of my superiors I was able to creat a “Paint Night” to call attention to both NATAL’s art therapy program and the annual Running in Color race. At this event my peers and I were fortunate enough to hear Rami, of the Running with Rami program, speak about his own experience with PTSD, a story we found both heart-rending and inspiring.

Each day I spent at NATAL I was welcomed by its staff and stimulated by its projects. As a student pursuing a BA in psychology I gained significant insight into the “transparent wounds” brought about by trauma, as well as the important financial principles which maintain a non-profit. I could not be happier that I spent my summer in Israel, especially in the warm atmosphere of NATAL.”
